The NY Slice Food Truck
A giant slice from The NY Slice delivers solid flavor, especially from the well-seasoned sausage and classic cheesy base. However, the slice is so limp that it’s difficult to handle, which takes away from the overall experience.

Mad Mushroom Pizza in West Lafayette
On a quick stop in West Lafayette, we checked out Mad Mushroom near Purdue University. The massive, quirky space set the tone, but the real highlight was the food—cheesy, well-balanced Cheesestix and a solid pepperoni pizza with a slightly sweet, sturdy crust. Add in a standout garlic dipping sauce, and it’s easy to see why it’s a late-night staple for students.

Sam’s Square Pie in Indianapolis
Still hungry after Indy Pizza Fest, we made a perfect call heading to Sam’s Square Pie downtown. The Detroit-style pizzas delivered crispy edges, bold toppings, and standout flavor—especially the “Just Kissed My Baby” and “Loving Cup.” With a welcoming owner, generous samples, and a fun atmosphere, it’s clear this spot is a serious contender for Indy’s best Detroit-style pizza.

Indianapolis Pizza Festival 2025
We went to Indy Pizza Fest 2025 excited to try new spots, but overcrowding and poor flow made it hard to get samples—we only managed three in an hour. Vendors had plenty of pizza, but unclear lines and tight space caused a standstill. Shin Dig stood out, and while the event showed promise, it needs better organization to match its ambition.
